Additional Website Research
In order to inform our ideas for our own band website we have been researching into other existing band sites and the typical conventions that can be found within them. We looked extensively at the Muse website:
Within this site we liked the simplicity of the design - with a main navigation bar at the top of the page and images across the whole website. We also liked how well the dark colour scheme works along with accent colours within the images and fonts used in order to make it stand out.
For our own website we wish to include the following navigation tabs: Home, News, Gallery, Store, Tour and Forum - similar to the Muse website. We also want to follow their style of having a central banner at the top of the page, along with sidebars which have a live feed of any social media updates. Another feature that we were quite fond of on the Muse website was the changing background when you changed/refreshed the page, therefore this is something that we would like to try and incorporate for ours.
Another website that we liked was for 'The Script':
We really liked the banner/advertisement on this website as it was promoting the bands new album ad stood out really well on the page. We also liked how the general aesthetics of the website was designed around the bands new album - there is an obvious recurring theme throughout the whole site which makes it look very appealing and professional.
This is an example of how we would like to set out our tour/live page, as a list with the various dates and locations with a link to purchase them. We also want to include a newsletter/subscription by email option so that fans of the band are able to keep up to date on all the latest news from the band/members.
Another feature that we really like was the live social media feeds (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc.) We believe this is a very important feature of current band websites as man fans now keep up to date with their favourite artists through these social media. It also allows the band members to interact with their fans on a more personal level as the can send them tweets, post pictures to them etc.
We want to include a strip of icons for the various social media that the band will have so that these links will be easily accessible for the fans to find/navigate.
We will also have a 'Store' page in which we will sell a variety of merchandise with band logos, album artwork etc on. We will also sell physical copies of the albums/singles and an Vinyl.

'Loyal Blood' Website Flatplans
Our original idea when designing a flat plan for our website:
We wanted to overall keep it quite simple with minimal text. However when further researching into existing websites we found that the websites are usually quite busy in certain sections. For example in the feed there would be various tweets/posts from social media. We found that plenty of links would be very important for our website so that it would be easily navigated by fans.
Current Flatplan:
This is our current flat plan for the home page for our website.
We have included numerous features that we identified from our additional research; A navigation bar, new album banner, a live feed, links to social media etc.
After completing this flat plan however we decided that the spacing between the features would be larger as currently everything is very close together.
We will now begin to create drafts of our website on wix.com
