Website Production

The pictures above show the first stages of the website production. from looking at many professional products we discovered that a lot of websites are kept very simple, with a constant background throughout and also an easily accessible menu bar at the top. When designing the website I started off with the menu bar and the background as this is the item that will be staying the same throughout the site.
We noticed that we wanted the have a background which was grungy /desaturated to help represent the genre of the music. I ended up using a picture of clouds I had taken previously and used Photoshop to edit it to make it look darker and suit the site.
Sticking with the clouds theme I ended up creating a logo that fit in with the theme of clouds/ a moody sky scene.

These images above show the next stage I went through to create the website for our band. Once we created our digipak we decided to keep the theme of the band running throughout so we based on the website around the digipak, having a similar background and also the logo is the same.

When looking at professional products we realised that a lot of bands use social media to promote themselves but also keep fans up to date. So when editing our own site we wanted to add various social media icons, we added a live feed and also small links to go directly to the bands facebook/twitter pages.
When you first go onto the website, the first thing you see is is the new album, the picture of the album and also links to buy the album. When making the site we wanted to make sure that this information was clear to everyone as it is one of the most important things about the band, so it was put in a large banner near the top of the homepage, with the new musc video situated below.

Throughout the site there is a variety of different links to iTunes, social media and also subscription information. We felt that this is vital for a band because as more and more people are usuing technology to follow their favourite bands, it will be able to reach out to a large audience very easily.

Finally, origianlly the menu bar across the top featured many different headngs such as, 'HOME', SHOP', 'ABOUT' and 'FORUM'. However, after further research, looking through professional products almost every band did not have an 'ABOUT' page. Therefore we both decided to remove this page from our own as we felt t was not neccessary.
