The Pitch Script
Possible Tracks
When deciding on a track for
our music video we explored a variety of different tracks primarily from one
artist. Some of our choices included: ‘Little Sister’ by Queens of the stone
age, figure it out, come on over and out of the black, all of which were by
Royal Blood.
·
We particularly liked the songs
by Royal Blood as we felt they suited our chosen genre of ‘alternative’
perfectly. We also thought that the songs would be relatively simple to create
a music video for as they are quite up beat and fast songs – so we had a lot of
ideas that we could explore.
Our Chosen Track
We have chosen this track as we both agreed that it suited the genre
we had selected (alternative) very well.We also felt that the song went well with the vision that we had
created for our music video - it would suit a band performance with
intermittent cutaways. The rhythm of the song will also be beneficial during the editing
process - it will be easy to cut on the beat. The only problem with this song is that it is 4 minutes long therefore
when shooting our video we will have to ensure that we collect enough footage
to use when editing.
Letter To Label
Here is a short letter we wrote to the music label Warner Music Group to ask for permission to use their artists song in our A2 media course.

Pinterest
This is the Pintrest board we created in order to give us inspiration for our music video for our chosen track 'out of the black' by Royal Blood. We took images from various different music videos that we found visually inspiring - including the 'Speed of Sound' video by Coldplay. In this we particularly liked the light wall behind the artists, in other videos we researched we also liked the dark colour schemes as we believe this will suit our chosen genre of 'alternative' very well.

Synopsis
For our music video the main focus will be a band performing with numerous cutaways in between the shots of them playing. The video will be set in a studio with low key lighting, following a dark colour scheme. Within our video we aim to use a variety of angles and distances in order to keep the audience engaged and to create a disjointed feeling to reflect the music genre. The cutaways will consist of a female protagonist that is angry and upset with her husband/boyfriend so she is set out to get revenge. The cutaways will start with close up shots of the female driving her along the country and as the song progress' and the music picks up in tempo, the female protagonist becomes more and more angry, with the use of a variety of different camera angles and distances it will help portray this and reflect the music.

Timeline
We created a timeline sheet to plot/storyboard our ideas for the visuals within our music video. In this we further developed our ideas for our music video - going into detail about the shots that we would like (including distance/angles) and when during the song we would like them to appear. We colour coded our plan so that it would be easier to understand and refer to at a glance - We detailed elements of the band performance in black and the cutaways in purple - with any additional information in red. We also made some notes in expansion to our timeline - detailing more specific shots that we would like to include in our video. We also wrote any shots that we feel we may need to test in order to find out if they will be possible/effective to use in our video. These images show some additional shots that we wish to take and that we feel are quite versatile, so could be used at various different points in our video.

Digipak
We have chosen to keep our digipak relatively simple in terms of the
artwork as we believe this suits our chosen genre well. We took inspiration from various album artworks – SUCH AS:…… finding
that there was often just one main focal point (often a graphic illustration). The typography was kept relatively simple, almost hidden away in the top
left corner.
Website
We took inspiration for our
site from a few different websites, including: Royal Blood, Muse and Coldplay. In the Royal Blood website we
liked the dark colour scheme and simplicity of it - it is easy to navigate and
has all the necessary tabs for fans to explore. We found the Muse website very
interesting, as we found that every time you revisited the page the background
would change - so each time it would show a different one of the bands album
covers. We particularly liked the
overall theme of the Coldplay website - as it is designed to fit in with their
most recent album release.
For our rough website design we kept the theme very simple:
The page is not overcrowded with text
The navigation bar is minimal and easy to navigate for the use
We included a variety of social media links in the top right corner
A feed with all the latest new/tweets/blog posts from the band etc. - this will keep the fans constantly update with all the latest information from the band, it is also helpful as all the latest new can be found in one place, as opposed to visiting the bands individual social media sites.
We added a music video player on the central home page as this is a good advertisement for the bands new single/video (we also added a link for the user to purchase the single on iTunes).
